The Harley sidecar was also available in a two-passenger sidecar model (22QT). The JD's extra front mudguard clearance on the top and sides enabled it to travel rough roads with sand and mud. A spare tire was an option.

The racing machines of this era were all business, having no brakes, clutch or starter. The use of aluminum alloy pistons was a first in 1924. The low-profile single seat Harleys were popular on board and dirt tracks, and hill climbs.
