A new 883cc Sportster was introduced in the summer of 1985 boasting an astonishing $ 3,995 retail price tag, a reduction of over $700. It featured a newly engineered "evolution" power plant with aluminum cylinder heads and self-adjusting valve lifters.

The 1986 XLH-1100 with it's brand new "Evolution" engine, was the largest Sportster in history. In addition to a completely re-engineered power plant, the big XL retained it's traditional styling. By 1986, more than 1/4 million Sportsters had been made.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the original 1977 FXS Low Rider, a new model was created. It continued the philosophy of the Low Rider with custom styling features, and was the only FXR-series Harley to have a 21-inch front wheel.

This road-hugger Harley got it's name from it's low seat height. Harley engineers were able to lower the riders seat height by nearly 2 inches. This combined with it's "Buckhorn" handlebar, made it a very popular bike.

The FLHS Sport is essentially a full-featured touring bike without the fairing and trunk. It featured a nacelle mounted headlamp and windshield. The machines rudimentary design approach and lighter handling made it popular with riders who like things simple.

Introduced in mid 1988, the FXSTS featured a front fork, engineered to look like a 1948 "Springer" front end with all the performance of a modern-era fork. The graphics commemorates Harley-Davidsons 85th anniversary

An enlarged engine with a new constant-velocity carburetor produced 10 percent  more horsepower than the former 1100cc model. The 1200 model featured significantly upgraded appointments, such as a tachometer and two-tone paint.

The 1988 Electra Glide featured improved rider and passenger accommodations. With it's new, more comfortable seat passenger backrest, and optional rider backrest, this machine set new standards for comfort. Only 195 sidecar models were made.
